Maisha Kamili Advent Guide Day 5

www.maishakamili.org

Moses is Beatrice’s and John’s youngest brother. He is starting Standard 8 in January, where he will largely focus on getting ready for the primary school exit exam. His score on this exam will determine whether or not he can get into high school, and what quality of high school will accept him.

Pray

That Moses will work hard at his studies, and pray also for his elder siblings who are raising him to do so with grace and care.

Read

Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

John is one of Beatrice’s brothers. He will start his last year of high school in January. He stays with an older sister and her family and goes to a high school near their home.

Pray

That John will make the most of his time in high school, finishing strong, which will give him better opportunities for his future.

Maisha Kamili Advent Guide Day 3

Beatrice has just graduated from high school. We don't know what her plans for the future are, but we are thrilled to have been able to help her get this far.

Pray

That God will make clear to Beatrice what her next stage of life will include and that he will provide a way for her to learn job skills.

Micah 5:2-5a
2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
from ancient days.
3 Therefore he shall give them up until the time
when she who is in labor has given birth;
then the rest of his brothers shall return
to the people of Israel.
4 And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great
to the ends of the earth.
5 And he shall be their peace.

Maisha Kamili Advent Guide Day 2

www.maishakamili.org

These two were sponsored through Maisha Kamili for 1 year, until their aunt decided she would rather be the one to help them out. It's always best when the family decides to take care of their own!

Pray

That Santa’s and Joshua’s aunt will be a true help to the family, and they, with their mother, will influence this aunt for Christ.

Read

Numbers 24:15-19 15
And he took up his discourse and said,
“The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor,
the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,
16 the oracle of him who hears the words of God,
and knows the knowledge of the Most High,
who sees the vision of the Almighty,
falling down with his eyes uncovered:
17 I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near:
a star shall come out of Jacob,
and a scepter shall rise out of Israel;
it shall crush the forehead of Moab
and break down all the sons of Sheth.
18 Edom shall be dispossessed;
Seir also, his enemies, shall be dispossessed.
Israel is doing valiantly.
19 And one from Jacob shall exercise dominion
and destroy the survivors of cities!”

Maisha Kamili Advent Guide Day 1

This year during Advent, I'd like to introduce you to our MKKs (see www.maishakamili.org for more info). Each day, I will tell you a little about one or more of our MKKs and a specific way you can be praying for them.

For our family Advent devotionals, we will be looking at some verses from both the Old and New Testaments about who Jesus is. I will post those verses at the end of each Advent post so that you can read along with us.

******

These twins were our first MKKs. They had already graduated high school when we met them, but needed further training in order to find employment. Mpate took a baking course and was able to get a job baking cakes afterwards. Tiffany started a teacher's training course, but stopped about halfway through and got a job working in a school. She is also teaching a children's Sunday school class at church.

Pray

That Tiffany and Mpate would both grow in their walks with Christ and that they will be a witness to those around them

Jeremiah 23:5-6 5
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’
